  • AI: A New Frontier For Smart Homes

There’s so much news about AI and its potential in automated homes.

recent CEPro article looked at understanding the potential for AI in smart homes. It examines how the futuristic “hyper-intelligent” home experience that can anticipate a home owner’s preferences and act accordingly isn’t all that far away.

For our smart home clients, the use of AI is nothing new. Two of our favorite smart home automation platforms, Josh.ai and Savant, have been developing AI technologies for some time. We’re especially excited about what they have to offer in enhanced voice control and privacy/security – two key concerns of our clients.

Josh.ai is known for developing the home automation platform which operates via natural language. Stilted, artificial voice commands are not needed; instead, home owners speak a command normally, and Josh responds. Dimming the lights, raising the temperature, opening curtains or checking stats are all done with natural language.

“The reality is, AI is going to completely change the way we listen and the way we control our environments, even smart lighting and making sure the color temperature and everything is just right,” Alex Capacelatro, CEO of Josh.ai, told CEPro. “We won’t even have to think about it.”

This goes beyond voice control, says Capacelatro. AI works behind the scenes to monitor systems, flag alerts when devices need attention, and secure home systems and privacy.

Josh.ai can learn a home owners’ habits, make suggestions, and automate aspects of the home as it better understands and learns a client’s lifestyle.

“When done right, the home should suggest or automatically play the right music, at the right volume, in the right locations,” said Capacelatro. “Or adjust the thermostat down if people enter a hot room, or close the shades if the sun is glaring in as they try to watch a movie. There are so many ways AI will enable the home to help clients live more comfortably in their homes.”

All of this is done with the help of an integrator to configure advanced systems and personalize automations, which is what we at Jackson Hole A/V prioritize in our service. We excel at the behind-the-scenes work to make sure the platform is ready for complex results. All the client needs to do is tell the system what they want it to do.

This is what smart home technology is all about; making our home lives easier and more enjoyable.

Security and privacy are the top concerns for us in these advancements. Next blog, we’ll look at Josh.ai and Savant platforms that secure our clients’ homes and personal information at all times.
