Tips From The Top

  • How AI Fits in Your Smart Home

    One of our priorities at Jackson Hole A/V is to make sure we keep our clients apprised of the newest developments in smart home technology.

    No avenue seems to be evolving more quickly than AI and the smart home. And if there’s anything more intimidating to home owners than smart technology, it’s AI-driven tech in the home.

    That’s where we come in. As integrators, we ensure our clients’ homes are secure, safe, and the tech is fully functional and easy to use. AI offers a ton of options for smart home owners, and we’re excited to bring some insights from two of our key companies, Samsung and LG. These global leaders in smart homes are constantly evolving the options to connect digital appliances and smart devices, enhancing the security, safety, and comfort of our clients’ homes.

    According to a recent Samsung Smart Home and Home Appliance study conducted among customers in Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the top three reasons people want smart homes are:

    • Having better control of their connected appliances for peace of mind (72%);
    • Taking advantage of energy optimization features to help save both time and money (61%);
    • Simplifying chores at home for better productivity (54%).

    Samsung’s tech supports these priorities in a lot of very practical ways.

    SmartThings Energy simplifies tracing energy usage of home appliances by bringing together insights into one viewing pane. Home owners can better see and control their usage, saving them money. With the SmartThings app, home owners can use AI Energy Mode to reduce energy use in certain models of refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines. Home owners can also set energy usage goals and get notifications about progress.

    LG is working towards its vision of AI-driven homes. Earlier this year, the company unveiled its smart home robot which can automate smart home appliance controls. This summer, the company announced its acquisition of the smart home company Athom, developer of the Homey smart home app which connects home appliances and IoT devices. The Homey mobile app allows homeowners to control and automate their appliances from anywhere in the world. Athom’s Homey App Store provides 1,000 applications for connecting and controlling smart home devices, including IKEA and Philips Hue. (The pro version connects more than 50,000 devices.) LG can now integrate Homey into its smart home hub, expanding its AI home concept and enabling homeowners to create a more personalized home using generative AI to manage appliances and IoT devices. Homey integration into LG’s smart home hub expands connectivity in open smart home ecosystems to whole new levels.
