Home Lighting: Necessity
For the owner of a newly built home, hindsight is 20/20 – especially when it comes to lighting.
Lighting may be too easily pushed aside in the planning process, and only too late does the home owner realize its importance.
A major mistake we see in renovations and new home construction is that integrated technology is an after-thought. When a home is almost completed and the owner realizes they haven’t considered Wifi or A/V or lighting, they’re in for some major headaches. To avoid that, our wisest (and calmest) clients engage us early in the process. We can ensure the electrical wiring and construction plans are ready to suit the home owner’s needs and wants – both in the present, and in years to come.
Lighting is an important key to making a house feel like a home, and too often, it’s an after-thought in the construction process. We see beautiful homes lacking the lighting support and accents to showcase the home’s features. As integrators, lighting for us is multi-faceted. It includes the wiring, of course, but also placement, fixtures, and shading. Our whole home system Savant, and leading light expert Lutron both off er an incredible array of lighting systems that give the home owner ways to control the lighting in their homes to focus the interior and exterior spaces, save energy costs, and highlight the home’s natural beauty – from artwork and sculptures to furnishings to woodwork and masonry.
Lutron’s Ketra Lighting fixtures are absolutely amazing. We have them here in our show room. It's hard to understand what light can do until you see it. Natural light is one of our most favorite features. And what it can do to art is absolutely stunning.
Lighting fixtures can be deployed to increase a space’s functional capabilities, but they have also proven popular with the design community for their ability to illuminate room accents. Those can range from artwork and sculptures to furnishings, woodworking, masonry, and more.
When we manage a home’s lighting system from start to finish, we can ensure that the entire lighting chain is fully integrated and operates at peak capacity, offering both ease and control for the home owner. This saves the home owner from hundreds of hours on the back end of a project, fixing problems that could have been set right from the beginning. Involving integrators early in the process also guarantees that the wiring will support the technology needs to come – critical in all new home builds and renovations.
We install the foundational control system to support the lighting throughout the home. Then the fixtures allow the home owner to control and direct the electric light, and the motorized window shading controls the natural light. When fully integrated, these three components support both the function of lighting in the home and the form it takes – the artistry that all luxury homes were made for.
In hindsight, too many home owners learn that a home’s lighting is not a luxury – it’s a necessity.
