Are you ready for 8K?
The training and ongoing education never stop for us as integrators. As smart home technology continues to evolve, we’re constantly learning new and better ways to best install A/V systems that our clients love.
Seminars at the recent CEDIA Expo 2021 highlighted audio and acoustics and video/HDMI, with topics ranging from acoustics to 8K to the latest research trends.
The first seminar focused on one of our favorite product lines, Sonos, and how to improve auto calibration programs and put together entire audio systems. It might go without saying, but making sure the seating position within a room gives the listener the best experience is key. Auto calibration won’t be successful if the seating and speakers are not in the ideal alignment. And while small rooms can get high-volume levels pretty easily, integrators have different challenges installing the best sound systems in larger spaces. Fortunately, we have experience with a large array of products and installations in various areas – from small rooms to entire houses to outdoor spaces – to make sure the sound quality is exactly what our clients are looking for.
The video seminar covered the leap in consumer demand for 8K over 4K. 8K is advantageous in some cases, as it supports larger screen sizes and the viewer’s ability to sit closer to those big screens. While 8K has inspired some controversy about migration, the increase of resolution capability may be the least important part of HDMI 2.1; the more important piece is that HDMI 2.1 makes advanced content transmission much easier. HDMI 2.1 is becoming more widely accepted.
Samsung’s new QLED 8K TV is one new product we’re wild about. Its image gives an amazing amount of detail and contrast with a huge array of Mini LEDs. The adaptive Neo Quantum Processor 8K offers AI-based deep-learning analysis of the video scene-by-scene, optimizing everything you watch. It offers edge-to-edge 8K viewing on an infinity screen with a nearly-invisible bezel that delivers a truly immersive 8K experience. 33 million pixels provide a sense depth and clarity, four times the resolution of 4K.
The final seminar covered the science of room acoustics and how to best integrate products like loudspeakers. Measuring and predicting, room treatments and sound transmission, pitch, frequency and timbre are all essential in calculating and installing the best home A/V system to meet a client’s needs – and what we prioritize at Jackson Hole A/V.
