CES 2021 highlights
Every January, the Consumer Technology Association’s annual technology conference CES kicks off the new year with new products, research, and innovation on a global scale. This year, not surprisingly, the event was virtual. But there was still a lot of new smart home tech on the scene to make our home lives more comfortable and productive.
Digital Trends’ round-up of the best smart home tech of CES highlights this year’s emphasis on home security, organizations, and cleaning (and some home gym products, not surprisingly). Here’s just a sample of the best products unveiled at CES this year, as highlighted by the editors of Digital Trends. You may just find your perfect new vacuum or home gym in this mix.
Samsung – one of our personal favorite TV companies at Jackson Hole A/V – unveiled its one-piece micro-LED TV tech in huge screens: 88-, 99- and 110-inch sizes. (You may never go to the movie theater again.) These ginormous screens represent the most significant innovation in TV tech at this year’s conference, according to Digital Trends editors. Personally, we can’t wait to see them in the home theaters we design and build for our clients.
Digital Trends also loved Samsung’s robot vacuum: The Jetbot 90 AI+. It’s smarter than other smart vacuums, with its built-in camera and A.I. object-recognition tech that allows it to detect and avoid objects in its path. Got kid clutter on the floor? It just goes around it. Its Jet Cyclone system has 30 watts of suction power. It also features an automatic disposal system to empty its dustbin in its Clean Station base. It also performs security; you can access its integrated camera through an app while you’re away, giving you a direct eye view of what’s happening at home.
If you’re looking for a more perfect home gym, Digital Trends editors love the NordicTrack Vault because of how much it tucks into a single piece of equipment. It packs away all the dumbbells, kettlebells, yoga blocks, and resistance bands to give you a complete gym workout at home. It has a mirrored finish and a 32-inch rotating smart HD touchscreen for those at-home streaming workout classes.
