Innovative Sound That Looks Great, Too
Savant –a world leader in home automation – recently introduced its innovative Micro Aperture architectural loudspeaker line. This new array of speakers makes it possible for entertainment content everywhere in your home connected by a single Ethernet cable installed by your integrator.
These pioneering self-powered Micro Aperture architectural speakers use Savant’s “Power over Ethernet” (PoE) to streamline automated audio design and installation. Every distinct powered speaker possesses a unique amplifier, making it possible for content to stay in the digital domain from source to speaker. This translates to outstanding sound throughout every space in your home, no matter the size or shape of the area.
The three Micro Aperture models in the new line each employ “Balanced Mode Radiator” technology that sends more sound per watt of amplifier power into the area. These in-ceiling models include a self-power PoE speaker, a companion PoE satellite speaker, and a passive (4-ohm) speaker to interface with traditional audio systems. And each self-powered speaker can power up to three satellite speakers, regulating the output power.
Each speaker is connected to the network yet controlled individually, so you can seamlessly change room configurations. And like all Savant products, they are designed with the highest visual aesthetics in mind; they sit flush in the ceiling, and come with compact, paintable round or square grilles that pair well with Savant/USAI recessed lighting fixtures.
World sound leader Sonos has also announced an exciting new development in its partnership with Ikea to offer innovative bookshelf speakers later this year. According to Tech Times, the Symfonisk design looks a lot like the original prototype IKEA and Sonos released in 2018, but with a more polished appearance. The speaker embodies a box-like, fabric-covered look to complement plywood tables and cabinets, and like many IKEA products, offers versatility – this standing bookshelf speaker can be used as a small table, a nightstand, or as a wall-mounted shelf. The new bookshelf speaker is also compatible with IKEA’s other smart home devices.
