Say Goodbye to the Blank Screen
Have you spent time and money designing your ideal living room, only to leave a big black hole on the wall whenever the TV is off?
Now your TV can also perform as a work of art, thanks to Samsung’s new innovation, “The Frame,” its high-end television which transforms into a frame displaying art when the TV is off.
The Frame accesses the Samsung Art Store, the largest art platform for televisions, with its growing supply of art from artists, museums, and galleries. With a variety of art layouts and colors, the professional art images include landscapes, architecture, wildlife, urban abstract, and more.
“We designed The Frame for consumers who love the function of a big, beautiful 4K UHD TV but struggle to design their room around an empty black screen when the TV is turned off,” said David Das, Senior Vice President of Consumer Electronics for Samsung Electronics America, in an official statement. “It gives consumers the freedom to design the room of their dreams, and the flexibility to change that design whenever they like.”
When the television is off, the bezel appears like a picture frame. You can show art from Samsung’s diverse library, or access more options of professional art from Samsung’s store for a fee. You can also display your own personal photos. The Frame utilizes a motion sensor to sense movement in the room and then display the picture. When there’s no movement, the screen saves power by going blank. An ambient light sensor matches the screens brightness to the room.
When you’re ready for something fresh, browse pieces that will fit your room’s particular color scheme, or your desired medium, like photography or drawings.
You can select one image, or build your own visual playlist, creating an individualized assortment that shuffles through pre-determined images at the rate you choose.
The TV itself is a work of art: a 4K UHD screen with HDR10+, similar to Samsung’s 2018 QLED TV line. Owners can easily transfer their Wi-Fi and Samsung account details to the TV from their phones, and take advantage of the Smart Hub menu.
The Frame also utilizes Bixby, Samsung’s intelligence platform, so you can use voice commands to call up your favorite shows, as well as control other things in your smart home – lights, locks, and more – with Samsung’s SmartThings IoT dashboard.
The Frame hangs flush to the wall with Samsung’s “No Gap Wall Mount,” and includes customizable magnetic bezel options in black, white, walnut, and beige wood, so you can change colors to highlight your room’s color scheme.
